Staff reading to children Staff reading to children

Kids Club Rules:

Signing In: Sign in each child that will participate in the program. Please indicate all locations parents/guardians will be in while their child(ren) are in Kids Club. For safety reasons, parents/guardians must remain on premises while their child(ren) are in Kids Club.

Capacity: Currently, there's no maximum capacity for the kids' club; our staff will gauge the appropriate number of children to maintain a safe environment for all.

Diapering/Potty Training:

  • Your child does not need to be fully potty-trained but must enter Kids Club with a fresh diaper or pull-up. Please bring additional changing materials. Staff do not change diapers.
  • If needing to be changed, or if assistance with the bathroom is needed, a staff will contact you via text or phone call to alert you to return to Kids Club. Staff do not provide bathroom assistance.

Crying/Upset Child: If this is your child's first time away from you, we will do everything we can to ease the transition. We will not let them cry longer than 15 minutes or the allotted time you tell us before contacting you. Please come right away and pick up your child. We encourage you to try leaving your child with us again because we have found that children who consistently use Kids Club soon become comfortable with the staff and the surroundings.

Toys: All Kids Club toys are cleaned and checked for safety regularly. Please leave personal toys, coins, gum, and other small objects at home. The Duluth Area Family YMCA is not responsible for lost, stolen, or broken items.

Food: Snacks and drinks for your child(ren) are allowed but not provided. Please have containers labeled with the child's name and place them in your assigned cubby space. Snacks containing nuts, peanuts, or peanut products are NOT ALLOWED.

Illness: We cannot accept a child if they have had symptoms of illness within the past 24 hours. Children suspected of illness will be sent home and asked not to return for at least 24 hours after symptoms are gone.

  • Symptoms include (but are not limited to): fever, lethargy, cough, vomiting, diarrhea, and/or unexplained rashes.

Discipline Policy: We aim to redirect misbehavior or unsafe behavior in the kids' club; after three attempts, if necessary, we'll contact you for pickup to ensure the safety of all children under our care.

Emergencies: Kids Club staff are trained in First Aid, CPR, and Blood Borne Pathogens. Parents/Guardians will be notified of an accident or injury that involved their child.

Child Abuse: All program staff are mandated reporters. Cases of suspected neglect or child abuse will be reported to the proper authorities.
